Who did what to John Lennon's bed? Why did Paul Jones not front The Rolling Stones? Rock and Pop is more than just entertainment, it's a way of life and a way of making a living. This generously illustrated booklet looks at the pop and rock scene through the eyes of 25 Portsmouth people who have worked in it - the highs and lows, sleeping in vans, getting your single played by John Peel, choosing your image, where the money went, the local venues. Their recollections have been tape recorded, a technique know as 'oral history', allowing us to share some of their experiences of the music business.

The booklet is based on an oral history project run jointly by Portsmouth Museums and Records Service, University of Portsmouth and Portsmouth Royal Dockyard Historical Trust and was supported by The Heritage Lottery Fund.
